The Sun came out after a wintery storm and at the Venice Restaurant we enjoyed the best chowders in Westerly provided by Casa Della Luce, Famous Pizza, Haversham Restaurant, Sunnyside Up, The Cooked Goose, The Sea Goose, Venice Restaurant, Westerly High School Highland Grille students and Woonsocket Career & Tech students.  Sadly, terror threats and the weather prevented Newport Career & Tech from their chowder preparations; so they were unable to participate this year.

The Rotary Club of Westerly announces its Twelfth Annual Chowder CookOff on 6 February 2016 at the Venice Restaurant's Ballroom from 12:00 to 3:00.  The past eleven years this event has been very successful and popular with over 300 attendees.  Initially the CookOff included only restaurant participants but the past three years a Culinary Student Division was added.  Because a significant concern of Rotary is education, this addition has been well received.  The students from Newport, Westerly and Woonsocket performed as though they were professionals.  And, the Restauranteurs - well, we are so fortunate in Westerly to have such fantastic chefs sharing their time and talents for the benefit of this event.  All the funds raised at this event eventually are returned to the Community.

This year we are proud to announce that our Guest Chef will be Neath Pal, an instructor at Johnson & Wales University and owner/chef at New American Bistro.

The restaurants competing this year include: Casa della Luce, Famous Pizza, Haversham, Sunnyside Up, The Cooked Goose, The Sea Goose, and Venice Restaurant.

Culinary students competing again this year will be from Newport Career & Technical Center, Westerly High School and Woonsocket Career & Technical Center
