This past Monday evening, the attending membership and guests were treated to a visit from the Rhode Island Destination ImagiNation Team along with their Coaches and DI Coordinator.  Our Club sponsored this group so they could travel to Tennessee for the International competition in May, 2012.

The non-profit organization, which began in 1999 with over 200 international volunteers, was dedicated to create a global creative problem solving program for young people.  The program has grown to include over 125,000 students and 35,000 volunteers across the United States and more than thirty countries.

DI's mission is to "encourage teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus, and frame challenges while incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), the arts and service learning."  Participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process.  Their solutions are showcased at local and international tournaments.
