We co-hosted a wonderful meeting this week with the Rotary Club of the Stoningtons.  Nearly sixty people came together to celebrate the oldest interstate high school football rivalry in the country. It was also the one hundred and third Thanksgiving Day meeting of the two teams.
The guests included the student captains, coaches, and the school administrators from both schools, members of the press, Rotarians, and the former coaches and players. They brought stories and shared experience of events that happened as far back as seventy years ago. Both Coaches talked about their kids and how proud they were of this group of student athletes. Former coaches and players talked about some of the most memorable moments. The Principals of each school talked about the good sportsmanship that has evolved over time and our own Roy Seitsinger, the Superintendent of Schools in Westerly, spoke about the importance of remembering significant moments and holding onto them.
It was a great evening. Special thanks to our own Steve Cofone and Feng Xue Sure of the Stonington Club for making it happen.
