As Doug referred to her, "The Boss" passed away Saturday evening, March 9, after a long illness. Eugenia "Jean" Rayner and Doug have been long time volunteers supporting the Chorus of Westerly through its years of growth from helping with fundraisers to Capital Campaign to purchase the Hall or for Hall renovations. As Ryan mentioned, "Jean loved the Chorus...We were her extended family." They attended every concert, every event. To honor Jean at Sunday afternoon's concert, Deb Dunham attached a beautiful long-stemmed Rose to Jean's seat in Row A up in the balcony and the concert was dedicated to Jean. Her quiet support to Doug in all his endeavors whether for Chorus or Rotary was inspiring. She will truly be missed by us all. And, so Rotarians will not meet next Monday, March 18, so that we may pay our respects to her and her family during the calling hours at Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 4 to 8 pm. Funeral will be at Christ Church at 11:00am.
