Summer Pops 25June2011, 8:00 pm

     It began as a tribute to the region for its support to fund the first international concert tour of the Chorus of Westerly.  This year marks the 31st Summer Pops Concert, which now takes place in the lovely Wilcox Park.  The Chorus with the Boston Festival Orchestra will perform at 8:00pm with special guest, Mina Um, and will "feature fireworks by Grucci, Canons from the Newport Artillery and the pealing church bells of Christ Church" in the grand finale - Tchaikovsky's Overture of 1812.  More information, especially concerning park and parking guidelines, can be found at the Chorus website, www.chorusofwesterly.org.  The Rotary Club of Westerly will have two food and beverage stations in the Park with the net proceeds going to the Chorus.  We will have pretzels, pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, soda, water and some novelty items such as glowsticks.  The Pre-show begins at 6:30pm with local entertainment.
