We had the pleasure and honor to host 7950 District Governor Dr. William (Billy) Roberts, Bette Roberts and Assistant District Governor Bob Cruz (Wakefield Rotary) at our dinner meeting.  Billy joined the Rotary Club of Barnstable Sunrise in June 2013 and has been actively involved ever since - serving as representative on the Cape and Islands Rotary Council and later became its Chair, Club President twice, Assistant Governor for Area 2, District Membership Committee.  He is a Paul Harris fellow plus 8.
During our Board meeting, ADG Bob first introduced DG Billy and then asked the Board to each "introduce" ourselves.   DG Billy asked President Ted to talk about some of our projects but he prefaced that request by saying how impressed he was by our Rotary Park, which he had visited on his way to the Masonic Hall.  He was equally impressed with all that we accomplished even through the Covid pandemic.   He offered some recommendations from Rotary International:  Club and Foundation should have separate Boards, attendance is a thing of the past.
During dinner, which was provided by Bogue's Alley, DG Billy spoke about membership and how Rotary has changed.  "What was - members were the wealthiest in town, professionals only, exclusive to more inclusive, trusted, diverse."  He said that his club has members age 20 to 90, suggested having Fellowship nights, BAG nights (every member brings a guest), Rotary After Hours.  What are the barriers to eliminate in order to attract new members??
He said, "look forward, keep going, the work that we do is highly visible."
