Monday evening, 14 February, the Club our special guest was Bob Perlow - The Warmup Guy.  Bob was born in Pawtucket, RI, attended University of Rhode Island, taught at Johnson & Wales.  He is known for his work as a writer on Laverne & Shirley, Bob Newhart Show, Friends, Cheers, Night of the Comet, Mork & Mindy, Love Stinks and has been the "warm up" comedian to open many shows around the world.  He has recently published "The Warmup Guy" - a tell-all book about his experiences from 1970s to 2000s entertaining live audiences for 3 - 5 hours to keep them engaged and laughing during sitcom taping.  He and Jay Leno performed together in Boston when they were both very young and remain friends still today.  Bob said that his favorite show was the Bob Newhart Show - was like a family.  He showed a video of his early days and later, including pictures with the various actors and actresses.  We also saw several segments of him "warming up" audiences in between taping sessions.
