Noel Bacon, Eagle Scout from Troop 1, Richmond
Rona Mann introduced the membership to Alex Conway, Field Director for Narragansett Council of Boy Scouts.  He requested that any Eagle Scouts present should stand and recite the Eagle Scout Pledge.  Rising along side of Alex was Ted, Steve, Noel, Noel's Dad David, and Dan Stanavage (guest of Frank Celico).  Alex spoke briefly about the journey to achieving the Eagle Scout rank - meeting the requirements and gaining many skills along the way.  Alex and Kathryn exchanged Rotary Banners - Alex is a member of the East Greenwich Club.
He then introduced Noel, who began his talk noting that the Boy Scouts of America are committed to service.  He stated that every year his Troop does about 500-700 hours of service projects - Richmond Pond Cleanup, International Coastal Cleanup -usually at Misquamicut Beach, Scouting for Food (in 2018 they collected over 4500 lbs of food in a join effort with Pack 3 of Hope Valley), Memorial Day Parade, building or repairing trail signs.  He prepared a slide show of his Eagle Scout project.  This involved the planning, designing and organizing a ramp at the Mann home for Veteran Dave.  The three week project covered over 450 hours, involved 17 Scouts and 11 Adults, with donated acquisition of all materials.  Noel is in 11th Grade at Chariho High School and has acquired his IT Certification and hopes to pursue additional education and work in the Technology field.  A very impressive young man.  His parents and younger brother also attended dinner.
