Our Rotary Club has always found ways to serve our community. Sometimes it comes through the money raised in our major fundraisers like the Charitable Auction each spring and the Rotary Golf Tournament each fall. We see a need and we fill it. Often it comes by making a contribution to the cause. At other times it has been through a hands on approach.
For example, we have been delivering food to those who are not able to get out of their homes since the early days of the Covid 19 pandemic. It began when Rona Mann was President of the club and she reached out to the people at Jonnycake and said we'd like to help. For the last six years we have partnered with them to get the food out to the most vulnerable people in the community. The assistance usually begins with a phone call from the office at Jonnycake Center to Rona requesting that a delivery be made. Rona, or another of our Rotarians, then calls the client to see how many are in the family, if there are any children, if there are any allergies, and if they need anything special in the way of healthcare products or pet supplies. Once the information is given, a delivery time is established and Rona or one of the Rotarians picks up the supplies at Jonnycake and makes the visit to the home to deliver the groceries.
