President Alan presents the Westerly Children's Library book honoring Gregory Post, the Co-Manager of Saltwater Farm and Kingdom of the Hawk Vineyards. Saltwater Farm Vineyard, located in Stonington CT, had its beginnings as farmland originally, later a small community airport and during World War II, a military airport. In 2001 the property, 108 acres, was purchased by Michael Connery to become a vineyard. They maintain a grassy landing strip in the vineyard and restored the WWII hangar to become their Tasting Room. They grow six varieties of grapes. They use French winemaking techniques to produce Estate-based wines: Runway White, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Estate Chardonnay.
Kingdom of the Hawk, located in North Stonington CT, on 50 acres of farmland purchased in 2018. The restored barn tasting room is a "nod to the agricultural heritage of the town." Their wines include: Whites - Pinot Noir Rose', Runway Rose' and Reds - Pinot Noir, Runway Red, Cabernet Franc/Merlot.
