President Kathryn is pictured above with Martha Crippen, Director of Consumer Protection Unit at the State Office of the Attorney General. Martha has had 27 years of service in our area or other at the AG's office. She brought along several pamphlets, talked about many types of scams that are currently active in the area and provided some tips to avoid getting fooled by scammers. She mentioned that telemarketers do have to register with their office and the "do not call" telephone option works for them; however, scammers are not registered . A reminder to all is that Social Security and Internal Revenue Service will NOT call you and ask for money - either cash or gift cards.
