Monday evening, 30 August, our members gathered at Rotary Park for our annual (minus our District Governor) Million Dollar Meal to benefit Rotary Foundation's Polio Plus Program.  The weather graced us with a very pleasant afternoon.  Special thanks to our fabulous chef Joe Potter and his terrific assistants Cindy Capizzano, Paul Grube, and to Bruce Morrow for the loan of his magic Grill.

We enjoyed a great potluck supper that included hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, green salad, tortellini/tomato salad, stuffies, deviled eggs, chips, cookies, blueberry bars, and a Happy Anniversary cake to celebrate Joe and Carol's 67th Wedding Anniversary, which is on 11 September.  Joe and Carol will be back in Arizona on the 11th.

With World Polio Day coming up on 24 October, we gathered to support Rotary Foundation's efforts to eradicate polio throughout the world.  Per the August RI newsletter, the "African region was certified free of wild poliovirus - an incredible milestone that was made possible by the leadership, dedication and support of countless Rotary members and health workers, our partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative and African region leaders."  "To stop wild polio transmission in the last two countries where polio is endemic, Afghanistan and Pakistan, we must maintain our focus on combatting vaccine hesitancy, reaching children in the most difficult places, and providing additional health services along with the polio vaccine."

Thanks to the generosity of our members, $495 is going to Rotary Foundation for Polio Plus.
